João Alexandre
Portuguese abstractionist painter (1960), he graduated in Plastic Arts by the Faculty of Fine Arts of São Paulo – Brazil, in 1982. João Alexandre’s artworks embrace moderation, in a synoptic framework somewhere between plenitude, austerity and lyric volume.
A pure geometric abstraction cannot be realized, but order and balance. Using an ancient technique (encaustic), the painter creates, this way, tactile works, of orographic plasticity and notably contemplative. His strokes are vigorous, with abyssal depth and each stroke is a calling to colour and shape, soaked in feelings.
